Inkster residents have remained peaceful over the police beating of motorist Floyd Dent in January during a routine traffic stop.

But on Tuesday night, residents, angry and impatient, attended a city council meeting and demanded the city fire the cops involved in the incident, according to a report by Kevin Dietz of WDIV.

Inkster cop William Melendez, who is seen in a video striking Dent, has been fired and faces criminal charges. But there are others involved in the incident including an officer who Tasered Dent, and others who are seen in a video in the station mocking Dent after he was beaten. Some are seen congratulating one another. To date, no action has been taken against those officers.

Inkster residents demanded the city take action now to fire those those involved, WDIV reports. One resident said officials would be replaced at election time if they don't do the right thing. The resident said those who are not running should step down now. Resident Ellis Monk referred to the cops who were mocking Dent in the station as "clowns."

Inkster City Manager Richard Marsh indicated he would announce later in the week what disciplinary action will be taken.
