A 4-year-old boy was shot in the head Monday night at a Clinton Township park and was fighting for his life, the Macomb Daily reports.

Detective Capt. Richard Maierle told the paper the boy was with an adult male friend of the family at Normandy Park around 8:30 p.m., just east of Gratiot and North of 14, when the shooting took place.

“We don’t know exactly what happened yet,” Maierle said late Monday.

The boy was first  transported to McLaren Macomb hospital in Mount Clemens, and later Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

Few details were available.
