Max Scherzer's No-Hitter is a Reminder of Just How Much The Tigers Could Use Him

Congrats to Max Scherzer.

But oh what a painful reminder it was Saturday just how much the Tigers miss him.

Scherzer pitched a no-hitter Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates at home -- and was one batter short of a perfect game. In the ninth inning with two out, he hit a batter, the Washington Post reports. He regrouped quickly and finished off the game. helping his team to a 6-0 victory,  He then joined teammate Jordan Zimmermann as the only pitchers to throw no-hitters in Nationals history.

Perhaps, what made the victory all the more painful was the fact the Tigers were getting killed in New York, and lost 14-3. The Tigers pitching has been poor, and once again, like last year, the Tigers seem to have a big problem with  pitching, particularly when it comes to relievers.

The Tigers are 34-34, and in third place, 6.5 games out of first. Washington is in first place, playing three games over .500.

It's too soon to write off the Tigers this year.  But it's not to soon to think about it.
