Surveillance cameras from private businesses were instrumental in two arrests related to separate shootings in Greektown in Detroit, MLive reports. Three people were shot, one fatally.

In the first case, an 18-year-old woman was wounded while parking with friends June 20. Police arrested the suspected shooter during a raid Monday, Gus Burns of MLive reports.

The second Greektown shooting occurred about 11:45 p.m. June 21, when two 19-year-old men were struck. One died.

Police arrested the suspected shooter in Westland, after a short foot chase, MLive sayss.

"We appreciate the community stepping up and helping our investigators identify these shooters," Detroit Police Chief James Craig said in a prepared statement, MLive reports. "The collaboration we see between business owners who have installed video cameras, the community at large who calls with tips, along with the hard work of police investigators, help bring these criminals to justice."
