Parks and Rec Diner in Downtown Detroit Opens Today

August 03, 2015, 7:56 AM

Parks & Rec Diner in the Grand Army of the Republic Building at 1942 Grand River in downtown Detroit opens Monday, joining its sister eatery, Republic, in the same building.

Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit writes:

The restaurant swings open at 7 a.m. today with a menu by chef Sarah Welch chock full of breakfast staples like strata, Dutch babies, and bloody marys. Parks & Rec is fashioned like a classic diner with round stools at the counter, but also takes cues from its name with features like park bench-styled green booths and chairs. The new restaurant is smaller than its sister tavern, Republic, and doesn't accept reservations, so be sure to get there early.
