State Rep. Cindy Gamrat, who been a embarrassment to the Tea Party and the state GOP, apparently won't fade away meekly.

The Lansing newcomer wants Allegan County voters to decide whether she stays in office instead of the House taking action to remove her, Chad Livengood of The Detroit News writes.

Gamrat attended the first meeting Tuesday morning of a special House committee created to decide whether she and Rep. Todd Courser should stay in office, the ;paper reports. The meeting follows the release Monday of a damning House internal investigation that found evidence that both lawmakers, who were locked in an extra-marital affair, were guilty of misconduct and misusing taxpayer resources to cover up their affair.

“I still believe it’s important to take responsibility for your actions, not to be held responsible for the actions of others, but for yours,” Gamrat told reporters after the brief committee hearing.  “I think that’s for my voters to decide.”

She wouldn't say whether Courser had deceived her, replying: "I’m not going to comment on somebody else’s actions.”
