The pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn was arrested Thursday and charged with drunken driving and indecent exposure because he was driving while naked, according to reports.
The Rev. Peter Petroske was placed on administrative leave Monday by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
According to Free Press reporter Jim Schaefer, Petroske told police: "I was, uh, hot … I like to drive around naked.”
The priest was stopped at 11:18 p.m. on Aug. 2. Police said Petroske’s clothes were scattered across the inside of his Volkswagen Passat and he was allowed to get dressed before stepping out of the vehicle for sobriety tests.
Petroske began serving at Sacred Heart in 2008. He had served at St. Pius in Southgate for 14 years, beginning in 1994.
