Michael Lewis II writes in Crain's Detroit Business:

The Memorial Day weekend event at Hart Plaza is one of the most influential festivals in the country and widely known globally as the birthplace of techno music.

Launched in 2000 as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF), it weathered financial problems and several promoters until Jason Huvaere and his Paxahau Events took over in 2006 and added Movement to its name.

The event is expected to draw 35,000 fans a day.

The festival will feature more than 120 performances from acts including Kraftwerk, Dan Snaith’s Caribou, Four Tet, Âme (DJ set) and The Black Madonna, according to Crain's.
