Two prominent law firms,  one from D.C., the other from Metro Detroit, are hired to represent the Detroit Land Bank Authority in connection with a “criminal investigation” into the city’s demolition program being conducted by federal inspectors,  The Detroit News reports. The firms specialize in white collar criminal probes.

The land bank’s board last week approved the hiring of Washington D.C. law firm WilmerHale as well as Troy-based Miller Canfield. The arrangement calls for the firms to also represent the city and Detroit Building Authority.

Christine Ferretti of the News reports that WilmerHale partner Jeannie Rhee charges $760 per hour, a 20 percent discount for her regular $950 rate. An associate assisting Rhee bills $504 per hour, down from $630.

Miller Canfield assigned Gleeson as well as partners Thomas Cranmer and Jeffrey Crapko, with an hourly billing rate of $300.
