The Red Hot Chili Peppers have cut a new album, "The Getaway," that includes the song "Detroit."
Lead singer Anthony Kiedis is from Grand Rapids, "so he has a love for his native Michigan," writes Jack Roskopp for the Metro Times:
Kiedis pays homage to Detroit all throughout the song. With lyrics like "The Stooges and J Dilla, yea / They tore this town apart" and "Funkadelic said it best I think you know the rest / Time don't stand a chance against this motor madness." It's pretty much the Pepper's version of "Californication" for Detroit.
The band's drummer, Chad Smith, graduated from Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills in 1980.
