Joe Louis, aka "The Brown Bomber," who was the world heavyweight champion from 1937 to 1949, once owned a home in Detroit's Boston Edison District at 1683 Edison Street. 

Josh Kushnereit bought the vacant home last year through the Wayne County tax auction, Robin Runyan of Curbed Detroit reports.

He admired Detroit's historic architecture while an undergrad at University of Detroit Mercy and at law school at Wayne State, Runyan writes. He's flipped houses before.

After serious improvements, the house is listing for $280,000.
