Ok, so let's overlook the fact that the Minnesota Twins are one of the worst teams in baseball.

The Tigers swept a doubleheader against the Twins on Thursday and swept the three games series, which now puts them a half a game ahead of Baltimore for the last wild card spot. Baltimore just lost four in a row to Boston.

“This team is pretty good at just moving forward,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said, according to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News.  “Just trudging on regardless of what happened the day before."

Justin Verlander continues to impress. He struck out 11 in six innings in the night cap in which the Tigers won 4-2.

“I think this ballclub is pretty unique,” Verlander said. “Everything is matter of fact. You’ve got the end goal and we are all working toward that. I don’t think anybody is going to let the ups and downs, the ebbs and flows get to us until the end of the season.

“And hopefully we’re celebrating and popping some bottles. But until that time comes, it’s on to the next one every day.”
