One of Broadway’s biggest hits is making its way to The Fisher Theatre in Detroit for the holiday season.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical opens Dec. 13 and runs through Jan. 8.  So even if you are snow-birding down in Florida for part of the holiday season, there's still ample time to get your fix of musical theater in Detroit.

Beautiful, revolving around the early life and long career of celebrated singer/songwriter Carole King, opened to rave reviews on Broadway in January 2014.  Almost three years later, it reaches Motown.

King’s remarkable career in the music business has spanned decades.  She broke onto the scene as a teenager and shortly thereafter was penning hits for some of the biggest acts around.  And even amid some difficulties in her personal life, King was able to persevere, continuing to collaborate on a host of memorable tunes, then ultimately launching a career as a record-breaking solo artist.

From “You’ve Got a Friend” to “I Feel the Earth Move” and many more, Beautiful is full of memorable songs both written and performed by Carole King. (Good piece of trivia: she was born Carol Klein).

Tickets are available for as low as $39 at the Fisher Theatre box office or www.broadwayindetroit.com and www.ticketmaster.com.
