Congrats: The Dirty Show Grows Up, Turns 18

January 18, 2017, 11:35 AM by  Allan Lengel

The Dirty Show, a Motor City alt-art event that promotes erotic art in all forms, turns 18 this year.

The show, which runs Feb. 10-12 and Feb. 17-18 in Detroit's Russell Industrial Exhibition Center, will include David Cerny, touted as "one of Europe’s best-know public artists . . . an agent provocateur of the highest order." He'll be joined by a group of other foreign presenters.

The show will include a selection of classic and historic Erotic Film Posters from the U.S. and abroad, along with erotic paintings, sculptures and photography.

As always, there will be live shows.

"Burlesque, and Performance Art of the lascivious kind make the Dirty Show not only an exhibition for the visual art, but also the art of the exhibitionist, when real life can blur fantasy and reality with the event itself becoming an immersive and interactive giant, pulsing work of art as a whole," a release says.

Eva La Feva will perform next month.

Its site describes the event:

For over a decade, the Dirty Show has been considered one of the largest and most important erotic art exhibitions on the planet. Each year, the exhibit features hundreds of quality erotic works, in virtually every imaginable media, from all over the world. It has become an immersive experience, with world-class performance artists on the stage and in the audience.

It attracts a diverse and cutting-edge audience of free-spirited Detroiters, whose yearly attendance has grown to over 10,000 people. Now, in its 18th year, the exhibition continues to push boundaries, and remains a beacon for established and emerging artists from around the world.

In addition to the art on the walls, the Dirty Show offers many other experiences for you while attending. It has evolved over the years to become an immersive event that will keep you entertained for hours.
