Coach Insignia, the upscale chophouse that's operated atop the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit since 2004, will be closing on Feb. 18, the Detroit Free Press reports.

"Riverfront Holdings, Inc. will seek to bring a world-class restaurant to the 71st and 72nd floors of the GM RenCen when Coach Insignia’s lease expires on Feb. 28," says a statement from the building's owner, a subsidiary of General Motors.

“We are currently exploring options," says Claudia Killeen, General Motors' manager of building, Mark Kurlyandchik writes.

Eric Djordjevic, president of the Epicurean Group hospitality company that runs Coach Insignia, says the landlord had no interest in working with them.

"We would’ve certainly welcomed the opportunity to renegotiate a new term," Djordjevic is quoted as saying. "Unfortunately, I think at this time Coach Insignia was not the brand that they envisioned using the space.”
