For about eight years, the bustling Supino Pizzeria in Eastern Market on Russell Street served slices and whole pies in a tight space.
It was cozy, but at the busy times, very cramped. In some ways, it was the part of the Supino charm.
People ordered at the register and carried out or sat down in the small space and workers brought the pizza to the table.
Recently, the owner decided to close La Rondinella, its Italian restaurant next door, knock down part of the wall and expand Supino.
On Wednesday, the expansion opened in the La Rondinella space. That part is now a dining area with servers.
The original side is now for carry outs, though it has a few tables for people to sit.
The bar in the dining area is expected to serve alcohol at some point.
The hours remain the same: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
