The odds of winning a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot are approximately one in a zillion. But coming soon to the Fisher Theatre will be a lottery with reasonable chances.
“Rent,” the Tony Award-winning musical about a group of friends living in New York during the 1990s, is on a 20th anniversary tour. During its upcoming run in Detroit, a few very lucky fans will be sitting within arm’s length of the stage for the price of a couple of pizzas.
For each of the eight Fisher performances from March 21-26, a lottery will be held 2 1/2 hours before show time. Those present will have their names entered into a lottery drum. Thirty minutes after that, names will be randomly drawn for a limited number of main floor seats. These tickets cost $20 and only cash will be accepted.
Lottery winners can buy two tickets and must have a valid photo ID to be eligible. Seats will be located in the first two rows.
Others can buy tickets the traditional way here.
