6 J.C. Penney Stores in Michigan Shut in June

J.C. Penney has seen better days.

The giant retailer announced it is closing 138 stores nationwide, six of them in Michigan. None are in Southeast Michigan, Ian Thibodeau of The Detroit News reports.

Liquidation begins April 17, and these stores close in June:

■ Delta Plaza, Escanaba

■ Westshore Mall, Holland

■ Copper Country Mall, Houghton

■ Birchwood Mall, Kingsford

■ Midland Mall, Midland

■ Cascade Crossings, Sault Ste. Marie
