Sixto Rodriguez, aka Sugarman, the musician made famous in the U.S. from the 2012 documentary "Searching for Sugarman," caused a bit of stir recently when it was discovered that he had picked the paperwork to file as a candidate for mayor of Detroit.

Turns out that he had no interest in the office, reports Matthew Smith of WXYZ.

A woman living inside his home tells WXYZ that he picked up the paperwork to try to convince chiropractor Robert "Dr. Bob" Pizzimenti to run. He owns the Psychedelic Shack on Woodward Avenue near 7 Mile Road,

Dr. Bob threw away the papers, but Rodriguez got a new set and urged him to file for August's primary.

“I told him to run, and he said no he’s pretty busy,” Dr. Bob tells the station. “I’m pretty busy too, but I guess at this point we both just agreed that I’m the man for the job right now.”
