Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, who gained some national recognition for bringing attention to the huge backlog of untested rape kits in the city, has made ESSENCE magazine's #WOKE100 list, which honors black women activists, artists, politicians, educators, organizers, journalists and creators who are working to achieve equality for people of color.

Worthy is in good company.

Some other names on the list  include producer Shonda Rhimes, producer of ABC's popular show, "Scandal" and "Grey's Anatomy," journalist Joy-Ann Reid and Circle of Mothers founder Sybrina Fulton.

Worthy's office announces the news Monday.
