So far, chaos reigns.

President Donald Trump is up against investigations by the FBI, a special counsel and Congress into Russia's possible influence on his campaign and administration. Hi 36-year-old son-in-law, Jared Kushner, one of his closest advisers, is in the cross hairs of the FBI. His travel ban on  people from certain Muslim countries has fallen flat. Ditto for his reform of Obamacare.

His approval rating overall is low. His victories have been few aside from the appointment of a Supreme Court justice. He's become juicy fodder every night for wise guys like late night show hosts Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers.

All that being said, he still has his loyal supporters in Michigan, and nationally as well.

Todd Spangler of the Detroit Free Press reports:

Four months after the president was inaugurated, those who voted for him in the last election seem little affected by questions over his campaign’s involvement in attempts by Russia to sway the election, a series of missteps on health care reform, a controversial travel order and more.

“He causes a lot of his own problems but I don’t think he’s getting a fair shake,” said Randall Shelton, a 64-year-old independent in Allen Park and self-described “angry white voter” who backed Trump in last year’s election. “As he said, it’s a witch-hunt. He never got a fair shake right from the get-go.”

It’s an opinion that’s easy to find among Trump supporters: He is trying to do what he promised. It’s Democratic obstructionism, biased media reports and, in some cases, even Republican intransigence — mixed with the president’s own idiosyncrasies and inexperience — that is hurting him.

"He’s here to clean up this country and keep us safe and make us financially stable,” said 77-year-old Mary Hasse in Three Rivers, south of Kalamazoo. “He's the president of the United States. He should be able to say whatever he wants to say. …. Leave the man alone, let him do his job.”“

Trump supporter Brian Pannebecker of Harrison Township, a 57-year-old hourly production worker at Ford’s Sterling Heights, is also quoted in the story. He posts the Sunday Freep story on Trump on his Facebook page along with the comment:

I support Donald Trump 100% in his fight to "drain the swamp" in Washington D.C. !!
The bureaucrats in the deep-state will stop at nothing to discredit and destroy President Trump, but the voters that elected him see right through the mainstream media's attempts to mislead voters about him.

The effort to tie President Trump to Russia is just what he says it is:
"Fake News"!

Last Nov. 9, he posted this on Facebook:

When I got to have my picture taken with Donald Trump, I told him we "had the keys to the White House waiting for him in Macomb County." I described the perfect venue for a rally: Freedom Hill.

That led to him coming to Sterling Heights 2 days before the election.
