The streets of Detroit have always been meant for cars. Pedestrians beware!

On Monday, at a little stretch of road, the pedestrian became king.

A busy part of Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit is closed to vehicles for three months to test a pedestrian zone called Spirit of Detroit Plaza. It goes from Larned Street to Jefferson Avenue.

It could become permanent. The street on Woodward includes tables, benches, planters, a stage and a decorative crosswalk.

On Monday, there were three food trucks, which stopped taking orders at 2 p.m.
