The streets of Detroit have always been meant for cars. Pedestrians beware!
On Monday, at a little stretch of road, the pedestrian became king.
A busy part of Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit is closed to vehicles for three months to test a pedestrian zone called Spirit of Detroit Plaza. It goes from Larned Street to Jefferson Avenue.
It could become permanent. The street on Woodward includes tables, benches, planters, a stage and a decorative crosswalk.
On Monday, there were three food trucks, which stopped taking orders at 2 p.m.
