Former Tigers pitching star Max Scherzer and Erica May-Scherzer announce this news Sunday:

At her Twitter page, the former model posts: "Happy Father's Day to the best dad-to-be we could ask for!"

And at Fox Sports, senior editor Lindsey Foltin dares to risk jinxing the Washington Nationals by typing this about its pitcher:

November will certainly be a special month for the the Nationals ace. Perhaps baby Scherzer will make her debut in the midst of dad’s World Series title run.

Considering Washington’s commanding 11-game lead for first place in the NL East, it’s certainly a possibility.

The couple married shortly before Thanksgiving 2013 in Scottsdale, Ariz. He turns 33 next month and she's 31.

Scherzer played for Detroit from 2010-14, earning the Cy Young Award in 2013 and $15.5 million in his final year.

The mom-to-be, a Colorado native, is a former University of Missouri softball pitcher who met Scherzer as a student there. His Sunday fun day includes this follow-up tweet:
