Walter Owen Briggs Sr. was part-owner of the Detroit Tigers from 1919-35 and then sole owner until he died in 1952. He also helped start the Detroit Zoo in 1928.

Now, his historic home at 700 W. Boston Blvd. in the Boston-Edison neighborhood of Detroit is up for sale for $1,050,000, Robin Runyan of Curbed Detroit reports.

In 2012, it listed for $465,000, and has been extensively renovated, as the five photos below show.

The 9,549-square-foot home built in 1915 has 11 bedrooms, six full baths, three half-baths, nine fireplaces, three built-in safes, an elevator and a completely remodeled kitchen.

Realtor Jason Hill of Historic Realty Detroit tells Deadline Detroit Wednesday that the home has been listed for a day and "there's been lots of activity."
