Roop Raj is a sharp broadcaster who makes a point Thursday morning in Ann Arbor.

Any way you slice it, Thursday morning's cell phone snapshot begs for playfulness.

While covering the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, Roop Raj was about to cut a cake (visible before our crop) during a live shot outside Iorio’s Gelato on East William Street.

"Caption this!" the Fox 2 Detroit personality invites Twitter and Facebook followers. We replied with three ideas and played it forward at our social media feeds.

"Yeah, that's right, I root for Ohio State. What are you gonna do about it?" responds reader Mark Lantz.

Here's more cleverness from the newsman's viewers:

► So you're saying you want a Julia Child accent on this take? -- Tom Frey, Taylor

► Step away from the cake. There is nothing to see here. -- Steven Roadknight, Royal Oak

► Developing story: Talks in progress to calm down angry man who threatened he'll eat all cakes if his demands are not met. -- Stjepan Skramic

► Fox 2, I need a vacation. -- Betty Haas, Holly

► Meet my little friend. -- George Kessler, West Bloomfield

► No cake for you! -- Frances Swoish, St. Clair Shores

► Well, it's better than cuttin' the cheese on live TV! -- Richard K. Quinn, Brighton

► Stay away from the cake, it's mine -- mine I tell ya'. -- AnnMarie McLeod

► Drop the knife and back away from the cake, Roop! -- Michael Darius, Armada

► This is MY cake. He who has the knife controls the cake! -- Chuck Oatten, Saint Louis, Mich.

► OK, anyone still want to keep heckling my live shot now? -- Deadline Detroit

► Now for a slice of life, we go live to the street with Roop Raj. -- Deadline

► Here with a live report is Roop Raj, who really knows how to cut it. -- Deadline

► They've given me this inordinately sharp knife for this soft, delicious cake. I'm clutching it with my strongest grip. -- Gary W. Vanconant, Warren

► Get back, it's all MINE. -- Miles K. Justice, Ann Arbor

► Sorry mom, I thought it was time. You want a piece? -- Amanda Allie, Livonia
