Raymond Durham, who faces charges in a March 15 shooting and wounding of two Detroit Police officers, now is accused of killing Sgt. Collin Rose of the Wayne State University Police last November.

“This will bring a sense of closure to the family, our officers and the Wayne State University community at large,” WSU Police Chief Anthony Holt says in a statement Thursday. “This is a solemn time, not one of celebration, as our department is still recovering, but it does provide some comfort."

Durham's family has described him as mentally ill and homeless.

On Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m., Sgt. Rose stopped Durham, who was bicycling at Lincoln and Brainard Streets in Detroit. Rose called for backup at 6:31 p.m. and shortly after  Durham allegedly shot Rose in the head before fleeing on foot.

A WSU police officer arrived at about 6:34 p.m. and took Rose to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he died.
