Terry Sanchez Wallac, aka 'Tee Grizzley," is a 23-year-old from Detroit's west side with an acute sense of history and justice.

His latest rap song, "Teetroit," is a gripping, catchy tune about the riots and Detroit today. It includes residents who witnessed the 1967 rebellion mouthing the words to his song.

It's inspired by Kathryn Bigelow's movie "Detroit." Lyrics include:

“I remember talkin’ to my granddaddy, he said Detroit ain’t been the same since ’67/If it weren’t for that it’d probably be some money in our family. / They wanna take the guns out the city / Naw them boys got too many.

He later raps: "Come get these guns out my city / Before we riot like the '60s."

The three-minute song mentions the Detroit Pistons' new stadium and adds: "Detroit Public Schools ain't even teaching the children."

A photo of Tee Grizzley hangs at the Detroit Institute of Arts as part of the new "DCyphered" exhibit.
