Seun Kuti + Egypt 80: The youngest son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti was 14 when he succeeded his deceased parent in 1997 as lead singer of Egypt 80. 8 p.m. El Club, 4114 Vernor Highway, Detroit. $20.
Pistons & Plates: Reggie Jackson and teammates host his second annual Pistons & Plates fundfraiser. Proceeds go to Jackson's DETermined to Assist Foundation, which serves low-income children in Detroit. Funky Ferndale Art Fair: The fair describes itself as being "twice as funky as the average fine art fair." Over 100 juried artists showcase work with an edge. Friday, 3-7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. -7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Free.
Parktoberfest: Third annual Campus Martius Park event, noon to midnight, has a decorated tent with over 25 craft beers from local breweries, plus German brews. Also: sausages, pretzels, other food; music (Spin Doctors at 9-11 p.m. Friday), pumpkin carving; competitions. Free.
Noir City Detroit Film Festival: Second annual event at Redford Theater, 17360 in Detroiit, has three days of crime and detective films hosted by Eddie Muller of San Francisco-based, a Turner Classic Movie host. $10-$25. Schedules and tickets here.
