Motown Items to Be Auctioned Friday at 7 p.m.

Even if you're not particularly into estate sales, this one is worth noting.

Aaron’s Estate Sales of Birmingham will hold a sale Oct. 12-14 from 10 am. to 4 p.m. at the Motown Mansion at 918 W. Boston Blvd., which sold in August for $1.65 million.

On Friday, Oct. 13, the sale of historic or Motown items will be auctioned off live at the home and broadcast worldwide at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Athletic House of the mansion, auctioneer Aaron Siepierski tells Robin Runyan of Curbed Detroit. The event is open to online bidders here. Doors open at 5 p.m.

These items are listed for auction:

Steinway Piano, Illuminated Globe with Motown Placard, Three Kings Coin Crest, Antique Adolf Schreyer Oil on Canvas, Vintage Films depicting Motown Recording Artists and Gordy Family Events, Collection of Vintage Radios, Inscribed Goblet from the wedding of Hazel Gordy and Jermaine Jackson, Handwritten Tour Organizational Records from Diana Ross and The Supremes, Collection of Billboard, JET, Cashbox Magazines addressed to Mr. Gordy and Motown Records. Architectural Pieces from the Mansion, including Gothic Sconces, Bowling Pins from the Bowling Alley located in the basement of the Motown Mansion, Chairs and other Memorabilia signed by Motown Artist Martha Reeves, Motown Ephemera, New Old Stock Vinyl Records.

The 1927 Steinway grand piano with a walnut finish (pictured above) was purchased in 1967 by Berry Gordy. Bids start at $5,000.

The homeowner acquired the items from Gordy.
