You might recall quarterback Jayru Campbell was one hot mess when he played quarterback for Cass Tech High School in Detroit.

First, he was arrested for body slamming a Cass Tech security guard in January 2014. Then that November, he was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend. He ended up spending time in jail.

He was originally destined to play for Michigan State University, but that fell through. He was deemed untouchable by Big Ten athletic directors.

Now, he has found a spot at Division II Ferris State University where he's expected to play both quarterback and wide receiver in 2018, Brandon Folsom writes in the Detroit Free Press.

Campbell will have two years of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2017 at Ferris State and playing two years at Garden City Community College in Kansas.

"We think he's a winner," Ferris coach Tony Annese tells the Freep. "Obviously, he's had a couple of unfortunate circumstances that had happened when he's younger. But we did our due diligence at Garden City, and they thought he would be a great addition to our team. We did our due diligence at Cass Tech, and Coach (Thomas) Wilcher said they thought he was a wonderful young man."
