The FBI is investigating Warren administrator Gus Ghanam. According to the Macomb Daily, Ghanam is quite a guy. He’s a developer, a political power broker with his own PAC and a former player in the exciting and legitimate business of sanitation. He’s also worked for Warren’s last three mayors.
Sounds like the total package.
What about this guy so interests the FBI is to be determined, but apparently his Macomb Business United PAC has a habit of turning in its campaign finance disclosure documents late. Very late. So how much did he spent to help his boss, Mayor Jim Fouts, in last year’s Warren city election? Who is to know?
You’d think this sort of thing might cause some consternation with the Michigan Secretary of State. Nope. Ghanam just pays a fine with his late reports and lives to contribute another day. For example, earlier this year he attended a $1000/plate fundraiser for…wait for it…Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson!
Macomb Daily: Last spring, Ghanam was among a small group of Fouts appointees and political allies who hosted a $1,000-per-person fundraiser in Warren for Secretary of State Ruth Johnson.
Truly, Michigan is blessed to have a Secretary of State as committed to the integrity of our democratic process as Ruth Johnson. She’s a class act. Ghanam and the other Warren officials with a $1000 to spend on dinner deserve big ups for supporting her. -- JTW
