Domino's Pizza May Not Be the World's Best, but it's the Biggest

Let's face it, no matter how much they say it has improved, Domino's Pizza is not the best in the world. Not even close. In fact, locally, Buddy's and Supino Pizzeria in Eastern Market are far better.  

But the Ann Arbor-based Domino’s grabs the title 'largest pizza company in the world,' passing Pizza Hut. Domino's says in its 2017 fourth-quarter earnings report that it was #1 in the world based on global sales, reports Frank Witsil of the Detroit Free Press. 

Domino's edged out Pizza Hut with $12.2 billion in global sales for 2017, compared to $12.0 billion for Texas-based Pizza Hut.

"We are pleased with our fourth quarter and full-year 2017 performance — with results that continued to outpace the industry," says J. Patrick Doyle, Domino's president and CEO.
