Old Federal Reserve Building
A distinctive dining experience comes to downtown Detroit this fall in the old Federal Reserve Building, 160 W. Fort St.
Galley Group plans a restaurant incubator and "food hall," the first of its kind in Detroit, the Detroit Free Press reports. Chefs at four kiosks will serve customers in a sit-down restaurant environment. It will so include a full bar.
The idea is to let small entrepreneurs test a new concept in a low-risk, low-cost environment that includes mentoring. It is open to new chefs as well as established ones trying fresh approaches, writes JC Reindl, who adds:
The company, founded by former U.S. Navy officers Ben Mantica and Tyler Benson, opened its first incubator, Smallman Galley, in Pittsburgh in 2015, followed by a second Pittsburgh location. A Cleveland location also is scheduled to open in the fall.
The old Federal Reserve Building is owned by Dan Gilbert and houses the city's two daily newspapers.
