Zingerman's Delicatessen in Ann Arbor earns more well-deserved recognition.
The popular deli and bakery has advanced as a final nominee for a James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Service. The awards are given out for excellence in cuisine, culinary writing and culinary education
Last month, seven Metro Detroit chefs and restaurants were listed as semifinalists for the prestigious awards. Zingerman's is the only one of those semifinalists to be a finalist, Melody Baetens of The Detroit News.
“We’re absolutely thrilled,” Zingerman’s co-founder Paul Saginaw tells the News. “We have three bottom lines: great food, great service and great finance, and we measure ourselves in all three. To be recognized for service is just extremely rewarding and we’re very excited and we’re humbled and we’re honored.”
Other restaurants competing in that category with Zingerman's include: Boka in Chicago, Saison in San Francisco, Zahav in Philadelphia and Zuni Café in San Francisco.
