University of Michigan forward Moe Wagner, who was a key piece in the Wolverines' success this year, including in the Final Four, will skip his senior year and go pro, ESPN reports.
"I've decided to sign with an agent and enter the 2018 NBA draft," Wagner writes for The Players' Tribune. The pro league draft is June 21.
Jeff Goodman of the network writes:
Wagner, a skilled 6-foot-11, 245-pounder from Berlin, contemplated leaving school after his sophomore season, when he averaged 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, but NBA executives told Wagner he was a likely second-round pick who might even go undrafted.
Wagner returned to Michigan and became a more well-rounded player this season, averaging 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds while improving his toughness and defense.
Wagner's head coach tweets:
So happy for Moe Wagner. He brought such a contagious winning attitude to our team from his 1st day on campus . That attitude led his 3 teams to a 82-33 record and 3 more banners at Crisler. He has been a terrific representative of Michigan basketball. Thanks Moe #GoBlue
