I don't care if I never thaw out

Tigers' bats were hot Wednesday afternoon, knocking out 13 hits in a 6-5 victory over the Orioles that ended with Dixon Machado's walk-off homer.

The attention-grabbing fan interviewed briefly below, who identifies himself just as Voz, says he also runs hot -- though temperatures were in the 30s as the game began. His shirtless spectacle was shown on Fox Sports Detroit, on Comerica Park's scoreboard and in a tweet by the team.

In a stadium with more than 26,000 empty seats, the bearded, bodacious ballpark-goer was easy to find. So Will Burchield of Royal Oak, a CBS Detroit sportswriter, made his way to Voz's side for this 37-second chat (seen more than 353,000 times by late-afternoon Thursday):

Sports Illustrated is among those tweeting a photo of the hardy hometown rooter, generating 250 comments in the first five hours -- including, inevitably: "The Dude abides." The magazine's tweet also draws nearly 6,000 likes and is shared more than 1,800 times by evening.

These are among reactions on that thread and a others:

  • Love it. Except when he sits next to you on a Southwest flight. -- Brian Remsberg
  • Team insignia on the hat checks out. -- Charles Mahar
  • Can you tell I've been working out? -- Adam Hirshfield
  • He just came out of hibernation. -- J.C. Cavins
  • Dude looks straight outta Duck Dynasty. -- Joe Drury
  • Detroit vs. Everybody. -- Ryan Field, WABC-TV in New York (past Fox Sports Detroit broadcaster)
  • I want to be this free! -- Billy Mautino
  • You have a nickname despite being called Voz? Guy is a hero. -- Ryan Madden
  • No doubt his heating bill in the winter is waaay cheaper than most. -- Bobby Bellew
  • I can never unsee this. -- Bill Moesta

Let's give it up for Voz, everyone. (Twitter photo)
