This could be big. Really big.

Emagine Entertainment Inc. and Detroit rapper Big Sean, who announced plans in February to open a movie theater in the downtown Detroit area, are eyeing the concourse of Michigan Central Station, Crain's Detroit Business reports, citing a "source familiar with the matter."

The depot, now owned by Ford Motor Co., is one of several locations in the downtown Detroit area the Troy-based movie theater company is considering, Kirk Pinho of Crain's reports.

Emagine and Big Sean had previously said they were hoping to open a theater by 2020, but the train station renovations are not likely to be completed by then. The latest report was that Ford hoped to renovate the station by 2022.

The movie theater would be called, The Sean Anderson Theatre, powered by Emagine.

"It is necessary to build a theater in the city, not only because of the joy and inspiration movies will bring to people's lives, but I hope this theater will become a hub of creativity — a place for intimate concerts, lectures, meetings, and other events," Big Sean said in February.
