Two men, both 18, have been charged in the slaying of Jack Wiley, an off-duty Detroit firefighter at his home on Detroit's west side last Tuesday.

Arondez Carter and Shomari Walker face charges of felony murder, first-degree premeditated murder, armed robbery, tampering with evidence, fourth-degree arson and felony firearm, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities allege that Carter and Walker were in Wiley’s home and planned to rob him.  During the course of the robbery, they shot and killed him.  The two men then took Wiley’s belongings, including his vehicle, and fled the scene. They later set the car on fire.

Both men were arraigned and remain in jail pending a Sept. 5 hearing.
