One Less Italian Eatery on Woodward, as Pasquale's Prepares to Close for Good

Pasquale's, the Italian restaurant in Royal Oak with the old-school name and a very big sign over Woodward Avenue, will close permanently soon. Plans aren't set for the high-visibility site, which the family owners hope to sell or lease for redevelopment, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

The DelGiudice family has operated there since 1954, and co-owner Michael DelGiudice said he'll "miss feeding the community," but "the timing is right" for them to step aside.

Ryan Cohn, a broker marketing the property, tells Kurt Nagl the family is open to selling the entire business north of 13 Mile Road, including the name, and would welcome a restaurant there "in an ideal world."

However, he said, the site is prime for larger development and "economics will lead more than legacy."

Cohn said the family has been approached several times by those interested in the property, but he declined to say who.

The 1.19-acre property includes the 7,587-square-foot restaurant with a full basement, 190 parking spaces and "bigger-than-life" sign welcoming visitors. It also comes with a Class C liquor license.
