Two horror films produced and filmed here by a Metro Detroit couple will be screened at Cinema Detroit at 7 p.m. Monday
Luke Jaden, 22, and wife Diane Michelle, 26, are the filmmakers.
“Luke and I are a young married couple, passionate about Detroit. We are focused on bringing the film industry back to Detroit and Michigan," says Michelle in a statement. "Luke has made six short films in Detroit/Michigan. His debut feature film, 'Boo!,' and my debut film, 'Goodnight," were entirely shot in the city of Detroit."

Her 10-minute shoirt premiered last month in Austin at the Fantastic Fest and "Boo!," a 91-minute feature film, first was shown at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in New York.
Jaden produced the short, which his wife wrote and directed. She produced and co-wrote "Boo!," which Jaden co-wrote and directed.
They're not just horror films, Jaden says: "They're deeper more psychological films that are sophisticated. They are metaphors portraying what is happening in the world."
The joint showings at Cinema Detroit, 4126 3rd Ave., include a Q&A with the couple. Tickets are $10.
A media release described the films:
- "Boo!" -- Married with two kids, James and Elyse are struggling to keep it together. Along with the couple’s own rifts, their daughter, Morgan, is hiding her own suicidal thoughts, while younger son Caleb channels his suppressed emotions through troublingly macabre artwork. One night, their true test arrives: a strange Halloween game left on their doorstep that, legend has it, leaves a curse on those who choose not to play. Unfortunately, that’s the choice this family makes—and evil spirits of all kinds are ready to make them pay.
- "Goodnight" -- A mother investigates her daughter’s belief that a malevolent presence has been visiting her at night. A deeply unsettling permutation of the ol’ “there’s-a-monster-under-my-bed” chestnut.
