Democrat Dana Nessel defeated Republican Tom Leonard in the race for Michigan Attorney General by a vote of 49-47 percent.
Leonard conceded the race to Nessel on Wednesday morning, reports WDIV.
Nessel joins other women candidates, including Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Haley Stevens and Elissa Slotkin who rode the Blue Wave in Michigan to victory on Tuesday.
Nessel, 49, is the state's first openly gay attorney general. She is best known for successfully fighting to overturn Michigan’s ban on gay marriage.
