A lawsuit in Oakland County Circuit Court alleges that a Henry Ford Health System physician sexually assaulted a woman during treatment last year in West Bloomfield.

The doctor fled the country before he could be questioned by authorities and has since resigned. Authorities issued an arrest warrant on fourth-degree sexual assault charges.

The recently filed suit by a Clarkston couple seeks a jury trial and damages from Henry Ford Health System and Dr. Vivek Loomba formerly of Troy, for an alleged incident last fall at  at 6777 W. Maple Road.

Aileen Wingblad reports in The Oakland Press:

According to court records, the alleged victim is a female who claims Loomba sexually assaulted her during an Oct. 6, 2017 appointment where she was to receive a steroid injection for pain management. She claims Loomba massaged her neck and back underneath the hospital gown she was wearing, and then moved to her breasts where he placed his hands for two minutes, the lawsuit states. He then reportedly told her she should choose his massages instead of the injections to ease her pain, which she declined. No one else was in the examination room at the time.

Loomba subsequently administered the steroid injection with a nurse present, the lawsuit states, and following the appointment the woman immediately reported the alleged assault to hospital staff, who advised her to submit a complaint. She also reported the incident that day to the West Bloomfield Police Department, court records state.
