Detroit Cop Charged with Assaulting Female Patient at Detroit Receiving

A Detroit police corporal faces a Dec. 19 preliminary examination on an accusation of assault at Detroit Receiving Hospital. 

Corporal Dewayne Jones, 47, is chaged in connection with the Aug. 1 incident.

When he arrived at the hospital, a 29-year-old female patient at the front desk was spitting and shouting profanities at the staff, according to the Wayne County Proecutor's Office. She also allegedly bit another officer on the forearm and thigh. 

While trying to restrain her, Jones allegedly punched her in the face and upper body. He face a felony charge of misconduct in office and assault and battery.
