In an unusual twist, the assailants were all women and the victim was male.
The incident happened around 3:40 a.m. Sunday on Detroit's east side.
A 36-year-old man was walking home from a gas station in the area of East Seven Mile and Chalmers, just east of Gratiot, when three women in dark clothing tried to rob him. Three gunshots were fired and he was hit in the right thigh, reports James David Dickson of The Detroit News.
The man ran home and got a ride to a hospital, where he is in stable condition.
