Macomb Teen Arrested After Allegedly Threatening to Shoot Up School

Authorities take school violence threats seriously.

The latest: A 17-year-old Mount Clemens resident was arrested Friday after he allegedly made a threat to "shoot up" a middle school in Clinton Township, Mitch Hotts of The Macomb Daily reports. His name was not being released.

The suspect was arrested Friday at his parent's house where authorities found a Airsoft replica gun. He was being held in Macomb County Jail pending arraignment.

Police Detective Capt. Richard Maierle tells the the paper that the threat was overheard by a student from Wyandot Middle School on Garfield Road in Clinton Township. The suspect has a girlfriend at the school.

"He said something to the effect of 'Don't go to school because I'm going to shoot it up,'" Mairle said Sunday.  "We went to his parent's house on Friday and they were very cooperative. After interviewing him, he was taken into custody."
