The street-level spot at 15 E. Kirby in the Park Shelton in Midtown Detroit has hosted a number of eating spots in the past few years, the last being Park Shelton Pizza.
Now, comes a self-described "high-end diner" called Babo Detroit, which plans a summer opening, Annalise Frank of Crain's Detroit Business reports:
Babo Detroit would serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as weekend brunch, owner Kris Lelcaj told Crain's. Lelcaj expects to open around mid-June, seating approximately 65 people in 1,964 square feet.
Babo will serve contemporary American food that Lelcaj hopes to distinguish from others using his know-how from the industry, and by emphasizing local ingredients and manufacturers. He expects plates to cost $7-$11 for brunch, and up to $14 or so for dinner dishes. He named eggs benedict, a three-meat bolognese with lamb and chilaquiles as example dishes.
