Alexander Gerth of Utica wasn't getting along with Sterling, his two-year-old pit bull mix he adopted. So he killed the dog.
Now, Gerth is heading to prison.
Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Richard Caretti sentenced him Tuesday to 3-6 years in prison, reports Oralandar Brand-Williams of The Detroit News.
Macomb animal rights activists filled the courtroom during sentencing, with some wearing lime-green T-shirts and other colored shirts that read "Justice for Sterling," "Be Their Voice . . . Sterling & Boomer" and "We Are Their Voice."
