Jose’s Tacos, a taqueria operating on Grand River in Detroit for five years, is opening a bigger, second location in Eastern Market this summer.
The restaurant will open at 2518 Market St., a space previously occupied by Cultivation Station, a hydroponics and garden supply store.
The Orozco family -- Jose and Leticia Orozco and their kids Luis, Laura, and Diana -- hail from Guanajuato, Mexico.
"We never thought this would happen,” said the son in a press release. “But we buy all our produce at the market, and people have been telling us forever we should open up a new spot since there aren’t any other Mexican restaurants there.
"Sanford Nelson [an Eastern Market landlord] is one of our regulars, and he suggested it separately just as we were starting to think about it seriously.”
