International Documentary Association Names 'Sugar Man' Best Doc of 2012

The film "Searching for Sugar Man" continues to captivate. 

The Wrap, a website that reports on Hollywood, reports that Malik Bendjelloul's film about '70s rock singer Rodriguez has been named the best documentary of 2012 by the International Documentary Association. The awards took place Friday night.

The film has been shortlisted as a possible Ocar nominee, and is also a nominee for January's Cinema Eye Honors, Steve Pond of The Wrap reports.

Pond wrote of Friday night's award:

The award reinforced the sense that in a strong year for docs, but a year in which none of the serious, issue-oriented films has managed to claim a frontrunner position, the last film standing may well be the one that is the most entertaining.
