The Mercury Burger Bar on Michigan Avenue in Corktown in Detroit is getting a national TV shout.

A production team from the Cooking Channel''s  "Chuck's Eat the Street"  taped at the restaurant Friday night. On Saturday, the TV crew returns to film host Chuck Hughes cooking with Mercury chef Ariel Millan, 24.

The 16-month-old eatery has gotten steady media attention locally. "This is our first national exposure," says general manager Kimberlia Kirk. "It's a very exciting time to be in Corktown."

Her chef and Hughes, a Montreal chef, will cook a grilled bologna sandwich, which comes on an onion roll with grilled onions, Swiss cheese and a "smosh" of Better Made potato chips. It's listed on the menu for 6 bucks.

Chuck Hughes, a Montreal chef, hosts the Cooking Channel program.

She's unsure when the segment will air, though that doesn't dampen the chef's enthusiasm.

"Who wouldn't be excited to get 15 minutes of fame," Millan says.

Millan previously worked for the Kruse & Muer restaurant group in Rochester and Tallulah Wine Bar and Bistro in Birmingham. Mercury is owned by  Dave Steinke. and Dennis Fulton.

On Thursday, Hughes taped at Dearborn's La Pita Restaurant, which serves Lebanese dishes, according to The Detroit News.

His show airs at 10 p.m. Thursdays on the cable channel.
